ABOUT

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe the Bible to be the only inerrant Word of God. It is our only ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Mark 13:31; John 20:31; Acts 20:32)

  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; He is omnipotent, that is, He is all-powerful; He is omnipresent, that is, He is present throughout all Creation but not limited by it; He is omniscient, that is, nothing is hidden from His sight In all things; He is limited by nothing other than His own nature and character. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:39; Isaiah 45:5, Mark 12:29; Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 33:27; Romans 16:26; Isaiah 40:28; John 1:1; John 8:58; Exodus 3:14; Hebrews 9:14)

  3. We believe the God we serve is holy, righteous, good, severe, loving and full of mercy; He created the heavens and earth, and everything in them, and all very good; He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Governor of everything that has been made. (Luke 10:21, 22; Matt 23:9; John 3:16; 6:27; Rom 1:7; I Tim 1:1,2; 2:5, 6; I Pet 1:3; Rev 1:6)

  4. We believe in the true deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38; John 1:1; 20:28; Romans 9:5; 8:46; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:21-23; John 20:30, 31; Matthew 20:28; Ephesians 1:4; Acts 1:11; Romans 5:6-8; 6:9, 10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Timothy 3:16)

  5. We believe in the full deity of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging Him together with the Father and the Son in the works of creation and redemption. (John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26,27; John 16:9-14; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Galatians 5:22-26)

  6. We believe God created human beings, male and female, in his own image. Adam and Eve belonged to the created order that God himself declared to be very good, serving as God’s agents and representatives to care for, manage, cultivate, and govern creation, living in holy and devoted fellowship with their Maker. Men and women, equally made in the image of God, enjoy equal access to God by faith in Christ Jesus and are both called to move beyond passive self-indulgence to significant private and public engagement in family, church, and civic life. In God’s wise purposes, men and women are not simply interchangeable but are designed with distinct differences in nature, role, and authority for mutually enriching purposes, both for them and the world around them. (Genesis 1:27–28; Genesis 2:18–23; 1 Corinthians 11:11–12)

  7. We believe that because of Adam’s sin all mankind is in rebellion against God, and for the salvation of such lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary. (Genesis 1:26; 5:2; Genesis 3; Genesis 2:17; 3:19; Ecclesiastes 2:11; John 3:14; 5:24; John 5:30; 7:13; 8:12; 10:26; Romans 9:22; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 19:3, 20; 20:10; 14, 15; 21:18; Psalm 51:7; Jeremiah 17:9; James 1:14; Romans 3:19; 5:19; Proverbs 28:13; 1 John 1:9; John 3:16; John 1:13; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:1)

  8. We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, and that faith without works is dead. (Rom. 1:16-17; Eph. 2:1-10; Gal. 5:6; James 2:14-26; Matt. 3:7-10)

  9. We believe in the universal Church, a spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ and their children, baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Spirit, and gathered together for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has commissioned the members of the local church with the task of making disciples of the nations by baptizing them in the name of the Triune God, and teaching them to obey all Christ commanded. (1 Corinthians 7:14; Ephesians 2:19-22; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:19-21; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23-25; Matthew 28:16-20)

  10. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling and gifts the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Joel 2:28-29: Acts 2:1-4; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Ephesians 4:11-14)

  11. We believe God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord. (Matthew 24:29-31; 25:31-46; John 5:25-29; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10; Revelation 5:9-10; 19:11; 21:8)

  12. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (John 17:1-26)
