3/24/25 Update | Sam Vargas

Dear Church Family,

My name is Sam Vargas, and for the past seven years, I have had the incredible honor of serving as a pastor at Discover Church. My wife, Holly, and I have also been married for seven years, and together we have two beautiful children—with another on the way! Our daughter, Josefina, is five years old, and our son, Uriah, is two. We are excited to welcome another baby girl in May of this year! Holly finds great joy in staying home to raise our children in the knowledge and reverence of the Lord. As a family, we deeply value quality time together and being active in our community.

Discover Church has welcomed and cared for our family with open arms, investing time and resources into our lives. We are forever grateful for the profound impact Discover Church has had on our family, the relationships God has graciously given us, and the spiritual growth we have experienced.

Throughout our ministry at Discover Church, the Lord has faithfully led us through seasons of great joy, trials, and abundant fruit. Through it all, He has equipped us for what lies ahead, and we trust in His perfect plan for the next chapter of our calling.

I am excited to share that God has called us—alongside two other brothers in Christ and their families—to plant Heritage Bible Church in Franklin, NC. Our desire is to see the gospel reach entire families, transform communities, and shape culture for the glory of God. At Heritage Bible Church, we seek to be a community of men, women, and children who glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

When Is the Church Plant Starting?

Planting a church requires careful planning and prayer, and we are excited to set our sights on an official launch this September! In preparation, we will host three “Info Meetings” at Discover Church. These meetings will focus on casting the church’s vision and mission, discussing our theological distinctives, and providing a time for questions and answers.

All three meetings will take place at 12:30 PM in the Discover Church Studio Room.

How You Can Be Involved

Pray:

• For wisdom for the Elders of Heritage Bible Church.

• That God would provide a building for us to gather when we launch.

• For a smooth process in securing our legal documentation (501(c)(3), EIN number, bank account, and other logistics).

• For wisdom for the Elders and Staff of Discover Church.

• For our families during this time of transition.
